Fredrix Stretched Canvas
Fredrix was founded in 1868 by E. H. Friedrich. Although he spent much time on trains and coaches drumming up business, he was much more than a salesman, he was a businessman, a chemist, an inventor and an innovator, and he was the first in America to manufacture artist’s canvas for the trade.
Although the art of manufacturing artist canvas has changed since the 1800’s, the product Fredrix makes today is very similar to the canvas they made over 100 years ago. The name was changed (Friedrich to Fredrix), but they still shop all over the world for the very best in fine cotton, blends and linens in order to provide the widest range of machine and hand processed canvas available. Their best selling canvases are universally primed for oil, acrylic or alkyd paints.
Only Fredrix Artist Canvas has stood the test of time and only Fredrix displays this archival seal – your guarantee that the masterpiece painted today will be a masterpiece for generations to come.
