In 1993, Daniel Smith set out to create a line of watercolors with one goal in mind: to bring the watercolor artist the very best product available. His dream came to fruition with the introduction of a hugely innovative collection of 27 paints that just happened to change the world of watercolors forever. The sheer amount of pigment packed into each tube was exceptional, as was the policy of providing complete product information on each label. Daniel Smith currently offers over 200 different colors, with more in the works every year.

Gorgeous in color, Blue Apatite is a striking mineral that is rarely used in jewelry due to its relative softness. As an artist's pigment, though, it's fantastic - a dense, rich midnight blue that granulates magnificently on cold- or hot-press papers.
