Claybord is a museum quality panel that is coated with an ultra-smooth kaolin clay ground that has a velvety-smooth finish that is very absorbent. Perfect for inks, gouache, egg tempera, acrylics, airbrush, encaustics, collage, photo transfers, pencil, casein and for mounting papers, prints and fabrics. Thinly apply paints or inks, then remove, reapply, and even scratch through them to add contrast and texture. Archival and acid-free.
The cradled version features supports that are glued flush with the back edge of the panel. The cradle provides extra support while giving the panel depth and dimension, making it ready to hang on the wall. The birch plywood cradles can be left unfinished or treated easily with wood stain, gesso or paint.
