Gamblin Ink Modifiers allow you to make slight adjustments to oil-based inks in order to print perfectly. Temperature and humidity, type of plate and paper all can affect how the inks perform. Depending on the printmaking technique, inks may need stiffening, lowered viscosity, or tack reduction.
- Burnt Plate Oils are used to lower the viscosity of the ink. Burnt Plate Oil #000 has less tack and is good for use with Gamblin Relief Inks. Burnt Plate Oil #2 has high tack and is excellent for Gamblin Etching Inks.
- Magnesium Carbonate is used to stiffen ink, and it also reduces the gloss level. Compatible with Gamblin Etching and Relief Inks.
- Tack Reducer is a gel made from a very light drying oil; use with Gamblin Etching and Relief Inks
