The lecture covers pigment properties and paint formulations, gels, pastes, grounds, color mixing, drying time, health & safety concerns, and much more! Various acrylic materials and techniques will be demonstrated to enrich your understanding of the medium, among these you will learn basic tips for how to extend paint, make glazes, image transfers, acrylic “skins”, and how to mix paints with gels and pastes to create exciting textures! Discover the possibilities and become inspired with how these fabulous materials can be added to your own creative process! All lecture attendees will get a literature packet and small bag of acrylic paint samples to take home!
Amy Shawley Paquette is a Virginia-based visual artist whose painting and illustration is inspired by the natural world. Her paintings incorporate fauna, flora, landscapes, and textures she has experienced during her travels and daily adventures in the countryside. After earning her Art History degree, developing her love of paint, and exhibiting her work in New York and LA, Amy was selected and trained in 2008 by Golden Artist Colors for their Working Artist Program. She taught and lectured in their southern California territory before relocating back east in 2014 to offer painting lectures in Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware. In addition to her work with GOLDEN, Amy was trained in 2016 to be an Artist Lecturer for Williamsburg Oils. Amy teaches art workshops nationally, offers online education, and published her first book in 2015.
